Our Lady of Guadalupe
The apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe to Saint Juan Diego in 1531 is one of the most famous Marian apparitions. It is recognized by the Catholic Church and has had a profound impact on the faith of millions, especially in Mexico and Latin America.
Our Lady of La Salette
In 1846 two young shepherds, Maximin Giraud and Mélanie Calvat, reported seeing the Virgin Mary weeping on a mountain in the French Alps. The apparition was approved by the local bishop in 1851 and calls for conversion and prayer.
Our Lady of Lourdes
Between February and July 1858, 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous experienced 18 apparitions of the Immaculate Conception at the grotto of Massabielle. The site has become one of the most visited Marian shrines in the world.
Our Lady of Šiluva
In 1608 the Virgin Mary appeared to shepherds in Šiluva, Lithuania, asking for a church to be rebuilt on the site where an earlier Catholic church had stood. It is one of the earliest approved Marian apparitions in Northern Europe.
Our Lady of Laus
From 1664 to 1718 the shepherdess Benoîte Rencurel received numerous apparitions of the Virgin Mary in the French Alps. The site was officially recognized by the Church in 2008 as a place of reconciliation.
Our Lady of Pontmain
On the evening of 17 January 1871, during the Franco-Prussian War, the Virgin Mary appeared to children in the small village of Pontmain, France, bringing a message of hope and prayer. The apparition was quickly approved.
Our Lady of Gietrzwałd
In 1877 two young girls in Gietrzwałd, Poland, reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary who urged the recitation of the Rosary. It is the only Marian apparition officially recognized in Poland.
Our Lady of Knock
On 21 August 1879 a silent apparition of the Virgin Mary, St Joseph, St John the Evangelist and the Lamb of God was witnessed by fifteen people in the village of Knock, Ireland. No spoken message was given.
Our Lady of Fátima
The apparition of Our Lady of Fátima to the three shepherd children in 1917 stands as one of the most renowned Marian events in history. Recognized by the Catholic Church, it has deeply shaped the faith of millions worldwide.
Our Lady of Beauraing
Between November 1932 and January 1933 the Virgin Mary appeared 33 times to five children in Beauraing, Belgium, identifying herself as the “Immaculate Virgin” and the “Mother of God, Queen of Heaven”.
Our Lady of Banneux
In 1933 eleven-year-old Mariette Beco reported eight apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Banneux, Belgium. Mary called herself the “Virgin of the Poor” and pointed to a spring of healing water.
Our Lady of Good Help (Champion)
In October 1859 the Virgin Mary appeared to Adele Brise in Champion, Wisconsin, asking her to teach the catechism to the children of the area. It is the first and only Marian apparition in the United States approved by a local bishop.
Our Lady of Akita
In 1973 Sister Agnes Sasagawa of the Handmaids of the Eucharist in Akita, Japan, received messages from a statue of the Virgin Mary that later wept and bled. The local bishop declared the events supernatural in 1984.
Our Lady of Kibeho
Beginning in 1981, the Virgin Mary appeared to several schoolgirls in Kibeho, Rwanda, under the title “Mother of the Word”. The apparitions were approved by the local bishop in 2001 and are linked to messages of conversion and warning.
Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
In 1830 Saint Catherine Labouré received apparitions of the Virgin Mary in the Rue du Bac convent in Paris. Mary requested the striking of the Miraculous Medal, which has since spread worldwide.
Our Lady of San Nicolás
From 1983 onward Gladys Quiroga de Motta reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary in San Nicolás, Argentina. The local bishop approved the apparitions in 2016 under the title Our Lady of the Rosary of San Nicolás.
Our Lady of Cuapa
In 1980 Bernardo Martínez reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Cuapa, Nicaragua. The local bishop approved the apparitions in 1982.
Our Lady of Good Success
Between 1594 and 1634 the Conceptionist nun Mother Mariana de Jesús Torres received apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Quito, Ecuador. The local bishop approved the devotion and the statue that was later carved according to Mary’s instructions.
